Welcome

In March, 2005 Tricia Luxenburg, a teacher and mother of three, was diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant with her fourth child. She was 31. Tricia began chemotherapy while pregnant and went on to deliver a healthy baby girl, Lauren, in June. She completed her chemotherapy, had surgery and went on to radiation. Despite a good prognosis after surgery, Tricia lost her courageous battle with cancer on May 22, 2006. At the time, her son Max was 5, daughter Miranda was 4, Ethan was 2 and Lauren was 11 months.

When most people think of raising breast cancer awareness they think of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. What many people don't know is that Susan was only 36 years when she passed from this terrible disease. The Foundation was created because of the promise between two sisters to do everything in their power to find a cure for breast cancer. Unfortunately, the legacy of many young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer is the same as Susan. While Komen is a phenomenal organization, Tricia and her husband Mitch had a promise as well: her legacy could not be the disease that took her life. Rather, her legacy would be defined by her children and the life she lived.

In her honor, we have created "The Tricia Luxenburg Memorial Scholarship Fund." While it necessarily must be called a "memorial" fund, all donations are made in honor of Tricia, her life and her passions. We have set a goal of raising $250,000 for the fund. The bulk of the fund will be earmarked for college scholarships for students who will be studying at accredited colleges/university to become teachers. > More

”Tricia's life will be honored by her ability to continue to vicariously educate children through her scholarship recipients for years to come.”
