About The TLMS

In situations such as Tricia’s, it is nearly impossible to not focus on tragic early death of someone so beautiful, smart, caring and giving. However, these traits are what make it all the more important to focus on the glorious way they lived instead of the tragic way they passed. While this has been a struggle for me, I continue to think of ways that the life of Tricia can be honored. There are many wonderful organizations that provide support for cancer research and relief for cancer patients. Most of them are the namesakes of those in whose spirit they were formed. They provide a valuable service and we thank them on behalf of everyone they serve.

Tricia, however, didn't want a fund in her memory devoted to the illness that took her life. Indeed, when we would be anywhere, including the hospital and someone would talk about her illness and/or how unfortunate it was, she immediately changed the conversation to how great her life was. Her greatest joy was telling everyone about her four angels. She never spoke the tragedy of death, only the glory of life, the pride of her family and her passion for teaching. She touched the lives of those around her; gave life to those who knew her, and shared her passion everyday in the classroom and to anyone else she could. Her love was unconditional.

In her honor, we have created "The Tricia Luxenburg Memorial Scholarship Fund." While it necessarily must be called a "memorial" fund, all donations are made in honor of Tricia, her life and her passions. We have set a goal of raising $250,000 for the fund. The bulk of the fund will be earmarked for college scholarships for students who will be studying at accredited colleges/university to become teachers. Tricia's life will be honored by her ability to continue to vicariously educate children through her scholarship recipients for years to come. Additionally, the fund will also make general donations to the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Schools/Noble Elementary (where Tricia taught), Bay Village Schools (where she grew up) and Kent State University (where she obtained her teaching degree). Since Tricia's love was unconditional, a portion of these donations will be given without condition, only with a request that it be directly to benefit the students most in need.
